Folder Owner no longer has access and I need to be new owner

Hi,

 

I have 3 folders that I am an “editor” on. The “owner” of each of these 3 folders has since left our firm and no longer has access to the email address associated with his box account so he is unable to login to his box.com account and give me “owner” access. Additionally, my box account is not associated with a company/admin account, so there’s no one internally at our company who can help with this. How can I get myself as the “owner” of these client folders?

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re glad to assist! 

 

I’m afraid your resources can be limited when it comes to transferring the folder ownership by yourself. Due to security reasons, the current folder owner should and can only initiate the transfer of folder ownership. 

 

If the current owner is subscribed to a Business plan, this user could get the help of his/her Box Administrator. Meanwhile, for freemium users he/she’s required to access his/her Box account to do the transfer.
