I backed up some files to a folder and now it is missing. I happened to took a note of the folder ID so I tried typing in the URL and it was not found. It is not there in trash either. Is there anything that Box support could look into if I provide the folder ID? Thank you!

Hi there,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to help!

What method did you used to backup your files? Did you upload it directly in the Box website?

Also, you won't get to locate your files by simply typing its folder ID in the browser's address. Instead, use your trash and check for your deleted contents.

Please refer to this article on how to easily manage your trash and restore your deleted files.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Rona for responding! I backed up a few months ago on the website and bookmarked the URL for easy access. I haven't accessed the folder in the last few week so not sure when it went missing. I already checked trash, it is not there.

Actually, I am not 100% sure if I used Box CLI or web to do the initial uploading, but I definitely accessed the files via Box CLI using the folder ID. I even checked my bash history file and saw the box commands accessing this folder by the ID, specifically "box folders:items ID". If I run the same exact command now, I get a 404:

$ box folders:items <ID>

Unexpected API Response [404 Not Found | <xyz>] not_found - Not Found

One more thing, bash history also shows the timestamp when the command was run, so I can see that I last accessed the folder back on 2022-06-20 15:33:13 IST, so it has been over a year. Any chance of reaching the Box support?
