Files missing from multiple folders in Box – no action taken, not in Trash

■ Issue
Files (mainly CAD data and PDFs) are disappearing from multiple folders in Box, even though I have not performed any operations.

■ When it started
Around 6:00 PM yesterday

■ Environment

  • Windows PC

  • Mainly using Box Drive (desktop application)

  • Security software: ESET

■ Details

  • Files in the affected folders are missing (unclear whether they disappeared gradually)

  • No new deletions appear to be occurring at the moment

  • The “updated by” field shows my name, but I did not perform any actions

  • The issue occurs across multiple folders and appears random, with no clear pattern

■ What I have checked

  • No files found in the Trash on the Box web version

  • No related files found in ESET quarantine

  • I do not have permission to view activity logs on Box (Editor role)

  • No recent PC cleanup or migration performed

■ Permissions

  • Editor

  • No access to admin console or activity logs

■ Current actions taken

  • Box Drive is currently stopped

■ Concerns

  • Possible deletion sync triggered via Box Drive

  • Files may have been permanently deleted since they are not in the Trash
