Dear  Team,

I can't open Excel files in the Box folder, I get the following error message and Excel loads for a long time on startup and eventually Excel gets stuck.

Excel files on the local disk can be opened normally. I reinstalled the Box client and did a fix for Microsoft 365, but the error again.

My computer is Windows 11.

Can you please help me to see what the problem is?

To assist you, let’s begin with the following troubleshooting steps: 

  • Has it ever worked before? 
  • How many users are affected as we speak?
  • Is this a recurring error in all excel files, both owned and collaborated?
  • Is this an error isolated for excel files only or all file types?
  • Please ensure that you’re accessing the file through a supported browser.
  • Please access the Box.com in your alternate browsers, machine and network connection then try again. 
  • Clear your cache and cookies.
  • Try downloading the file locally and open it, see if the same error occurs.
