Question

Escalation of privilege

I no longer seem to be able to copy files from one folder to another. The error message says I cannot do this because it leads to an escalation of my privilege - although my privilege has not changed and this has not been a problem before. I wonder if it's due to a recent software up-to-date on my iMac ?

Hi @Kate B

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re glad to assist!

  • Are you using the Box web-app’s copy feature
  • Or did you drag & drop the file within your local Box folder?
  • Can I confirm the Operating System running in your machine and its version?
  • What about the version of your Box local desktop application?
  • Please upload a screenshot of your error and attach it here.

Thanks for posting, and we look forward to your reply!

I can no longer seem to copy from some folders to other folders. The error message I get is that it will cause and escalation of privilege. I pay a great deal for my business to use this platform. Can you please fix this?? Thanks

We also have had this, from one collaboration folder to another. Previously working flawlessly, now it alerts me on EVERY SINGLE FILE, which is unsustainable. my work-around is to move the folder (i’m using Box Drive) to a local folder (desktop or similar), then move it to the collab folder. if i go folder to folder, i get the error. No permissions have been changed on either account.
