Error Syncing File - help resources do not resolve issue

I’m on Mac OS X v12.7.6 (last Monterey version), and have tried this on the most recent versions of both Chrome and Firefox.

Box Sync shows “Error Syncing 1 File...”. It’s not important to me that the file is backed up to my Box, so I’d like to exclude it from syncing. As best I can tell, I should be able to right-click on the file in my “Box Sync” folder on my computer and select a relevant option, however no Box-related actions come up when I right-click. I’ve scoured what I can find in Help and Support resources but I don’t find any solutions.

(I have seen that there should be a “Lock” option, it is not there. But as an idle question, if I could “Block” the file, would that result in ignoring the file during the sync process?)

Please don’t point me to the standard “recommended actions for error sync” troubleshooting instructions (see below) ----- the “recommended steps” are not useful/do not apply

https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/ [removed by moderator] -Box-Sync-Troubleshooting-Basics

If you are seeing problem items (error syncing notification) for Box Sync app, to clear those, you would have to resolve those items using the recommended steps. Box Sync provides detailed user notifications if your contents cannot be synced. To see the list of current problem files, go to the Box Sync icon in your menu bar and select the "Error Syncing File" option.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi @Schembs

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re glad to help with your sync error.

Before we proceed with troubleshooting your Sync issue, we highly recommend switching to Box Drive.

Why Switch?

  • Current Experience: Box Drive is the latest desktop application from Box.
  • Automatic Syncing: It eliminates the need for manual syncing, although you can still mark files for offline access if needed.
  • Quick Resolution: The problem you're facing is likely to be resolved immediately upon installation.

Installation Benefits

By installing Box Drive using this link, Box Sync will be automatically uninstalled. Rest assured, any files that have not yet synced to Box will remain safe in your old Box Sync folder.

To learn about the differences between Box Sync and Box Drive, please see our article Switching from Box Sync to Box Drive.

For more information about Box Drive and its basic functionality, please see our article Using Box Drive Basics.

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you for considering this change!

Hi - attempted to install Drive from the .pkg downloaded from Box.com.  However got the msg that “the installer encountered an issue and could not continue”

I’m on Mac OS X v12.7.6 (last Monterey version) - I believe that Drive is supported on this version with the possible limitation that

...custom Mount Location on macOS 11.5 and 12 in FPE mode is no longer supported due to an architectural limitation in Apple File Provider Extensions.

Is there a specific set of actions I need to take in order for the Box Drive installation to complete?  Thx
