Enable Box Zones during Enterprise Trial – EU Data Residency Inquiry

I registered today and am currently on the 7-day Enterprise trial—our top priority is that all data at rest remain within the EU, so we need to enable Box Zones, yet I cannot find any “Data Residency/Zones” option in the Admin Console or in the plan details; could you please confirm whether Box Zones is available during the trial and, if not, which paid plan or add-on is required (with an indicative per-user cost) and the typical activation/migration times for any files already uploaded?

Box Zones is an add-on feature and is not available during the trial period. To be eligible for Zones, an account must be on a Business Plus plan or higher. Additionally, this add-on must match the number of core licenses on your account (e.g., if you have 10 Business Plus licenses, you must purchase 10 Zones add-ons).

Can I set Box Zones on a Business Plus subscription?

Admins can purchase Box Zones online as an add-on feature for Business Plus accounts and higher. If the admin encounters any issues online or has questions about the feature, please don't hesitate to contact our Sales Team through the channels mentioned above.


Admins and co-admins with the Manage users permission enabled can assign Zones through the Admin Console.

Hi ​@Jey Bueno Box can I confirm the zone as a user?  or is there a way to tell which zone is used to deliver documents  and files?

I appreciate your prompt response. During the purchase process, based on the customer’s IP address, they will be surfaced the appropriate Zones (e.g., UK, Canada, France, Japan, etc.)


Only admins have visibility into the Box Zones for users. If you are a Box Zones customer, your admin can select a default Zone and any additional Zones, and map users to a Zone. To check where Box stores your organization’s content, your Box administrator can generate a User Details Report. A sample report is shown below:
