Hello,


I am unable to add users who have an existing Box account not associated with my company. I receive the error: Email already used in a Box account but not associated with an enterprise.


Previously, I was able to resolve this by going back to the legacy design of the User Management Console, but that no longer appears to be an option.

Adding a personal free user produces this error. This serves as a reminder that you're adding an existing Box user. 


Here's what you can do. 


  • Continue to add the user, and when this error appears, "1 user failed to be added", ignore the error message and press the Save button again. Saving a second time will begin the invitation process.
