I am thinking of upgrading to office premium but do not want it to delete any of the files that i have currently saved in box. Is this something anybody has experienced or has knowledge about?

I don't think upgrading to office premium would delete that files that you have saved in Box, but just to be on a safer side, you might want to contact Microsoft to confirm this and to know how upgrading your office plan could affect your files that are saved in cloud services such as Box.
