Hi, It seems like some of the folders that I created are no longer available. Is it possible to retrieve these folders?

Hi @kgafg

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re glad to assist with your deleted folders.

To know if we can still retrieve the deleted folders, we have a few questions for you:

  • Are the deleted folders your own folders? If not, kindly reach out to the folder owner. As the folder may have been deleted or you were removed as a collaborator in the folder.
  • Did you delete the folders yourself? If so, you can navigate to Box.com> Trash to restore the folder

Note:

  • When items are deleted from a collaboration folder, both the owner and the person who deleted the item can recover the items from the Trash.
  • If you are removed as a collaborator from a file or folder that you've deleted, you no longer see that item in Trash. To see the item in Trash, you must be again added as a collaborator to that item.

To restore specific items in Trash:

The steps below apply whether you’re selecting from search results or from all Trash items.

  1. Hover to highlight the row of the item you want. The More Options ellipsis () displays.
  2. Click the ellipsis (...).  Then:
  • To return the item to its original location in Box, click Restore.
  1. At the prompt, click Okay.

Working on files and yesterday morning the folders we were working in just disappeared! It's not in trash; this is several years of work for many teams in our company!
It’s already the 2nd day and we need it sorted out right now!
How can we get your support?

Hello @KEI hhaexchange ,
This sounds urgent and critical. If you're using Microsoft services like OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams, contact Microsoft Support immediately through your admin portal or support.microsoft.com. Also check audit logs, version history, and admin recovery options. Time is of the essence—act fast to maximize recovery chances.

Best Regards,
Shana Brush

Hi @KEI

Welcome to Box Community! I moved your post to this related topic and please feel free to join the discussion.

You mentioned that the folder has disappeared and it’s not in your trash. In this case, you must be working on a shared folder and please reach out to the folder owner.

Additionally, here are the recommended troubleshooting guide that’ll help locate your missing folder.
