Delete and other options not appearing with multiple files selected

I am trying to clean out folders, and when I select multiple files within a folder, the trashcan icon appears briefly, but then disappears.  It seems to be circumstantial as it appears in some folders and not others. I am owner of all the folders, so can't be a permission thing. I am using Box online
