Hi,

I have recently uploaded about 10,000 files (mixtures of word, excel and pdfs). When trying to search for file contents, nothing comes up. I read on box website, content searching is supported and indexing may take a while but it has been over a week now and the search still comes back with nothing. Is there an option I need to turn on?

Thanks

Hi there,

Welcome to the Box Community!

Box Content search feature is currently only available to Business and higher plans as found HERE.

  • "Indexed Text per Document: The Box search index stores up to 10,000 bytes (~10,000 characters in English) per document for accounts from Business level and above. This amount can vary from document to document because of language, Box’s indexing method, and document type."

Personal users are not able to use this feature so if content search is not coming up for you, it could be due to your type of account.

Regards,

Can you reactivate Box Sync?  While not perfect, when I moved folders that I use (search) most often to there, I was able to use the file content search capability of my operating system.

Hi Barry,

Thanks for jumping in on this thread!

If you would like to use Box Sync app to access Box file in your local computer, you may download the app and find the instructions on how to install it on this support article:

Thanks for your post and let us know how else we can help!

Wouldn't Box Sync work the same as using Box Drive, with some folders marked to sync locally (verses those left in the cloud)?
