Running Mac OS 11.5


1.  - What started it all - ERROR on startup - Box Failed to initiate with Mac oS


2. Tried Fixes in forum none worked.


3 - Uninstalled Box.


4. Downloaded BOX again. Reinstalled.


5.NOW told: "installed an old version of Box on top of a newer version"


6. Attempted to Uninstall using Terminal Prompt from Box.com Uninstall Instructions.


7 - Current status:

Have you tried restarting your Mac computer and try this again? If not, can you please do and then uninstall Box Drive completely following the steps below and then reinstall the GA version we have listed on our site.


To uninstall Box drive (for Mac Users):


 Quit Box Drive


  1. Run the uninstaller script:
    • Launch Terminal.

    • Type the following and press Enter:
      /Library/Application\ Support/Box/uninstall_box_drive


You do not see your password as you enter it. Just press ENTER when have finished typing it in.
