Hi @roadbike26,
Welcome to Box Community!
I understand that you’re having trouble syncing files through Box Sync. To get a quick fix, we highly recommend switching to Box Drive.
Why Switch?
- Current Experience: Box Drive is the latest desktop application from Box.
- Automatic Syncing: It eliminates the need for manual syncing, although you can still mark files for offline access if needed.
- Quick Resolution: The problem you're facing is likely to be resolved immediately upon installation.
Installation Benefits
By installing Box Drive using this link, Box Sync will be automatically uninstalled. Rest assured, any files that have not yet synced to Box will remain safe in your old Box Sync folder.

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you for considering this change!
Thanks for the detailed response, but it didn’t work. After downloading Box Drive, the installation failed. The error message is, “The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.”
Box Sync was not uninstalled during the aborted installation, so I deleted it then tried to install Box Drive. That failed as well.
Suggestions? Please ...
I still can’t install Box Drive. I’ve tried several times now, and the error message is always the same, The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.” Suggestions?
Anyone out there? This must be Box’s way of getting people to upgrade. Very disappointed that they can’t provide support for their product. I guess I’ll have to try one of the other services. Disappointing in that I’ve been using Box for close to 20 years.

It didn’t work. Same results, “Installation failed …. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.”
So, 2 questions:
- I’ve got a 2020 Mac, what I consider fairly new. The HD is formatted APFS. Any idea why Box would develop “Mac” software that doesn’t work on a Mac?
- How can I download a copy of Box Drive v1.2.93+, at least that might work.
Thanks!
