I’ve had my box account for a while now, and I have had login issues before.
The issues I had were related to having created the box account with my google account, and there was some issue with the google login and I didn’t have a password set.
After I created a password the issue was solved.
Today the same thing happened, tried to login the MacOs plugin and nothing happened. Went to the account settings and it said I didn’t have a password, but also there was an error everytime I tried to create a password.
To avoid the whole google login issues again, I added a new email address to my account and set it as the primary email, and removed my google account.
Now my account is using my icloud email but doesn’t let me login because it either tries to login through the google login thing or it says my email “doesn’t match my google account”, even though there is no google account currently associated with my box account.

Please follow these preliminary troubleshooting steps to resolve your login error:
- Make sure that you’re typing in the correct email and password.
- If unsure with your current password, please feel free to do a password reset.
- Try different browsers, network and machine.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, then please try again.
- Check if you’re using the supported browser and Operating System to access the Box web-app.
- Temporarily disabling any internet security/firewall programs to test whether they conflict with Box (Note: you may need clearance or assistance from your organization’s IT department/helpdesk to do this)
- Temporarily disabling any plugins/extensions in your browser.
- Restart your machine.
