Can not Delete or Change Ownership

Hi, I started copying a synced folder and subfolder when it failed. Now I’m trying to delete the folder and it wont allow me. I tried setting up another account and sharing as a collaborator which worked and the folder appeared on the other account so then I tried to change ownership to the other account and it wont allow that either. I think it believes it is still copying as I get a the message it is in use by another operation. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Pete

To get a closer look on your folder transfer, I’ll go ahead and open a new case. A member from Box Product Support team will get in touch through email and please keep an eye out.

Hi Rona, I still have not heard from a member of Box. They should contact me via my notification email not my user email. I have transferred to another account so my primary email is no longer valid.

First let’s begin with the following information, 

  • When did you moved the files and folders, could provide the exact date and timestamps?
  • Could you change the folder ownership and use it in another browser, network or machine?
  • If the message prompt reoccurs, kindly take a screenshot and attach it in this thread.

Hi

I am based in Australia and I attempted the transfer around on the 22-October 2025. Not sure how to provide a time stamp. 

I was transferring from one Box Account to another so I began copying a folder named Airwork out of a group of folder to the head folder to top level Box account allowing me to transfer balance of folders by changing ownership to new account. For whatever reason the copying ceased so I have been unable to transfer ownership and now the 2 folders named Airwork are unable to have ownership transferred or deleted

Attached is the screen shot of the error message I have received.
