Well, again, Box.Com has made an update that is not useful. Yes, you may be able to reply back to someone without having to @ them again, but no longer makes it possible to copy everything you may need to past into another file to reference back to each other. Way to go Box!

Hi @Tamera

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re here to assist!

I completely understand your frustration. It can be incredibly disruptive when a software update designed to streamline one part of your workflow—like making threaded replies easier without constant @-mentions—accidentally breaks another essential habit, such as easily copying text to reference or paste elsewhere.

While the recent updates to commenting in Box Notes (such as those rolled out in July 2026) focused on bringing comments and annotations together into a single pane, adding direct links to comments, and allowing comment editing, they sometimes introduce unintended friction in text selection and copying within the user interface.

If you are having trouble copying text directly from the comment bubbles or the document preview, here are a few workarounds that might help you reference your content:

  1. Use the Copy Icon in Box AI: If you are using Box AI within Notes or Documents, you can use the dedicated Copy icon (clipboard button) next to generated responses to copy the formatted text directly to your clipboard without manually highlighting it.
  2. Add directly to Note: If you are working with Box AI, you can click Add to Note to insert the text directly into your document at your cursor's location, allowing you to reference or move it from there.
  3. Adjust Comment Pane Width: You can drag the divider of the comments and activity pane to the left to expand your workspace, which sometimes makes highlighting and selecting text within the sidebar easier.

Your feedback is highly valuable, and sharing these real-world workflow impacts is the best way to help product teams refine these features in future updates!
