BoxSign - apply template to an existing document

We're looking to migrate to BoxSign from Docusign. I'm accustomed to being able to apply a template (signature fields, date fields, text fields etc) to an existing document when I upload it/want to send it for signature.

Does the same functionality exist in Box? Using a template seems to just create a new PDF of a template, rather than being able to apply those template fields to a word document (for example) to then be able to send it for signature.

Very frustrating...

    I too have an issue where I would like to add a boiler-plate template of general clauses to a lease package. I'd like the general clauses to be a template as they don't change, but then i would like to add those to the lease package when preparing and routing for signature.

     Creating, using and sharing Templates was of no value.

    How can I prepare and route a unique lease form, while adding a generic general clause template to it?
