This is not interesting - I will follow the uninstall and clear out again - but it needs to be fixed - it is only this one computer station - update 2.42.212 - it has been happening for a week now

Thank you

This is the error:

(UPDATE AFTER FINDING THE ANSWER)

So I came back here to my original Post - During my search on how to find this, I came across a 'sales' BOX AI chat bot - when i happened to type in ' Box Support Sucks' It said "Oh, sorry that support couldn't help, what seems to be the problem?" I typed the error for the popup window that has caused me so much grief (above) and AI sales chat bot said...

"Oh, why don't you try to reinstall your C++ redistributables. Sometimes they get corrupted... etc etc. "

I went and found this link: for the x86 and the x64 C++ redistributables

AND IT FIXED THE ISSUE - so far - aftre i installed them, the notifications popped up and said update complete and the box drive window popped up. I tell you. I am glad this is done - My business partner was NOT interested to use the Web interface -

Good Luck - God Bless

Same problem here.

When I uninstalled and installed 2.41, it was fine, but the app kept updating to 2.42, and it failed again.

How to turn off the auto-update?

Hi there,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to assist!

Can you manually reset your Box Drive Application?

  1. Exit Box Drive (if it is running). If necessary, use Task Manager to end the Box.exe process.

  2. Ascertain whether any files exist in C:\users\sUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\unsyncedFiles. These are files that have not been uploaded to Box. If these files do exist, and if you want to keep them, copy them to any location outside of C:\users\sUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\ (such as your desktop). Proceeding with the steps below deletes these files.

  • You may need to show hidden folders to see \AppData.

Delete this folder: C:\users\eUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box.
From RegEdit, delete the registry entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Box/Box to clear Box preferences.
Restart the Box Drive and follow the prompt to log back in.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for the helpful tip - reinstalling the latest C++ redistributables on my minimal Windows 10 machine allowed the update to install.

Thank you for the update!  I reinstalled the C++ redistributables and box loaded on reboot.  Box.com support needs to take note of this.
