Box tries to open Google items saved locally (.gdoc, .gsheet) and keeps un-defaulting Google Drive (Mac OS)

Hi, I have a number of .gdoc and .gsheet files saved on my computer (Mac OS Ventura 13.0.1). When I double-clicked on these to open them in the past, Google Drive would open them in Chrome, which is the behavior I want. Since I installed Box Drive (Version 2.29.112) recently, it looks like Box becomes the default for opening all those files. I keep changing the default back to Google Drive, then Box somehow un-does the default.

Any suggestions on how to make Google Drive the default for opening these Google files -- and have it stick! -- other than removing Box Drive? It's maddening. Thank you.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Box Community!

For me to check, may I please have a screen recording on how are you opening the files?

Looking forward in assisting you.

Thanks for responding to my post. I am simply double clicking. It looks like my screen shot didn't attach to my original post.

As you can see in my screen shot, Box.app is defaulted for that file, so Box will open it (or try to).
