I have used box sync successfully on other machines. I just got a new macbook and box sync does not seem to be working correctly. The program starts running and scanning thousands of files. I am not sure what it is actually scanning. Online, I have deselected everything so nothing should sync. In the sync folder on the machine I have just one test document. I have tried many variations on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the Box Community!

Have you tried to logout from the Box Sync app yet?

You can logout by going in the menu bar > click the "b" icon for Box Sync > choose "preferences" > settings > and then logout.

After logging out, login again to your account and check if Sync is working as expected. If you continue having issues, I would suggest submitting a ticket to Product Support so they can help you investigate.

Regards,

Hello Michael, are you referring to the newer Box desktop app is downloading or giving access to a bunch of folder/files that you are not technically synced to in the web GUI version?

I did try logging out of sync many times. Based on Steve's comment I now see that Box Desktop is a replacement for Sync. I thought that desktop could only be used when online. I will try replacing sync with desktop and see how it goes.

Thanks

Ironically you mention the two apps. I have a ticket in with that specific question. I do not see a place to choose for one app versus the other. I believe I have the sync too and would like the older desktop version but cannot find it specifically if that is what we are thinking. I responded to your post to verify if we were on the same thoughts and if you had any follow up with your findings. If Box replies to my ticket I will reply back to you in case my reply from Box can help you.
