My director has Box sync on one computer and Box drive on the other. Folders created on the pc with box drive are not sync'd to the computer with Box sync. Also, the right click context menu is missing the option to make files available offline, for any folders originally created on computer running Box Sync. Do you have to use Box Drive across all devices for folders to behave properly? Is Box sync on one computer interfering with how Box drive is supposed to work on the other. I started wondering when he reported having issued editing image files. When he is wokring on the computer that has box drive and tries to save edited jpeg stored in a folder originally created on Box sync computer, the result is a zero byte file.

Box does not support having both Box Sync and Box Drive installed on your machine, and there are known issues with this configuration.
If you already use Sync, consider switching over to Box Drive. Drive 2.4 includes an uninstaller that automatically removes Sync and cleans up your synced content.

My director does not have both box sync and box drive installed on one machine. He has two computers. One had Box Sync and the other had Box Drive. Same user, but two different computers. I have since upgraded the one computer running that had Box Sync to Box Drive, but we still have the same isssue with image files saving as 0 byte files if saved to a Box Drive folder. Here’s the scenario:
The user opens an image, make an edit (crop, for example - or even no change), then saves the edited file with a modified file name in a folder on box drive. The resulting file is 0 bytes and is not usable. If he saves the edited image to any other folder on the computer (including One Drive), the saved image file is fine, normal size, and can be opened.
This user has been doing this same process for years with no issue. He had two computers, both running Box Sync and he had no problems. Then, he upgraded one computer and the new one had Box Drive installed. The image file saving as a 0 byte file started on this new laptop, when trying to save to a Box Drive folder.
Any ideas why this is happening? There is nothing wrong with the image files to start with…. It’s something to do with opening a file, editing it, and saving to a folder on Box Drive.
