Box Sync/Box Drive

I have in my notes that Box Sync will be replaced by Box Drive, or is that only a recommendation?  I may have misunderstood the notice.

    Welcome to Box Community and glad to help! 

    There's no definitive date on when Box will officially retire Box Sync. However, as early as now we're recommending your switch to Box Drive for better local Box desktop experience.

    So the primary difference between Box Sync and Box Drive is local storage with Box Sync versus cloud storage with Box Drive?
