Box locking up when opening document on iPad

I am trying to open up a large pdf document on my iPad. Recently attempting to open this document results in the app becoming frozen. It starts to open it and then locks up and you cannot make any selections nor ‘x’ out of the document. When you restart the app it goes automatically to the last attempted open document and gets frozen again. The only way out of this seems to be removing the document from Box on another device. However when I put the document back in and try to open on iPad the same thing happens. Others in my organization are having this issue as well. It does NOT happen on laptop/macbook- only on ipad and iphone.

Welcome to Box Community and we’ll assist regarding your issue while accessing the PDF file in your iPad. 

To fix this issue, please follow these easy steps:

  1. Force-close the Box app then turn on Airplane Mode or temporarily disable Wi‑Fi/cellular.
  2. Reopen Box while offline so it cannot immediately reload the problem PDF.
  3. Navigate away from that file if you can, then reconnect.
  4. Fully restart the iPad.
  5. Make sure your software is up to date. 
  6. Uninstall and reinstall your Box for iOS.

Even with wifi turned off, it still gets locked up on the document. Software is up to date. I have restarted this ipad, as have others, countless times in trying to rectify this situation. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled the Box app. None of this has rectified the situation. Surely we cannot be the only ones with this sort of situation.
