Our non-Box users are getting an event 5152 written to their Security Event Log 6 times every 30 seconds The msg is "The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a packet." The port is 17500, and the source address is a user using Box to provide a file to someone outside the network. We do not use Box to share on our LAN.
I've seen a few things about disabling LAN sync, which I would gladly do if the instructions worked. So far the only circumvention was for all but one of the users who had Box installed to uninstall it.
Can you please provide assistance as to how to disable LAN sync, or whatever process Box is doing to broadcast & cause these errors every 30 seconds?
Hi Wendell,
Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!
Can you take a look at this article on how to configure your configure your firewall or proxy to allow Box access: Configuring a Firewall for Box Applications
This might be relevant to your next step!
Best regards,
Thanks for your tip. But the problem is not about the Box user being able to circumnavigate the firewall.
The problem is that the Box client is flooding our network with broadcast messages looking for some other device to sync to, when there is no other Box user.
I would like to stop the Box client from trying to sync with any other PCs on my network. I think disabling "Lan Sync" might be the way to do that, but I haven't found valid answers as to how to do that.
Is there a way to stop the Box client from sending broadcast messages? They are going to addresses like x.y.255.255 and 255.255.255.255, using port 17500.
