I have used box drive instead of box sync for years. I need to be able to search for and delete multiple *.pdf files from a folder with multiple sub folders. the box app search window is unacceptable for this purpose.

I noticed that this function was "broken" on my home pc. The box drive link on your website gives link to download  box-x64.exe. I deleted the existing box application from my windows 10 64 pc and installed box-x64.exe. It is acting like box sync with cloud icons on all my files. search from windows explorer is broken.

question: is there a workaround or do I need to find a new cloud service?

thanks.

Hi Esamett,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

Please be advised that Windows search tools such as Cortana or File Explorer search do not return Box Drive results. This is currently a known limitation and we encourage the use of Box Drive's search tool instead.

Thanks for reaching out and let us know how else we can he of help!

Regards,

Sorry. I don’t think this solves problem. I need to search a root directory and subfolders for *.pdf. Then control-A select all then delete all instances . I don’t think your suggestion will do that.

Are there any plans to remove that limitation and allow box drive results to populate within file explorer? This is a huge limitation for our company as well. Box Drive Search Tool within the web app is so clunky and it's going to take me so much longer to do the copying/cutting and pasting of .pdfs to different folders this way. Which in the long run is more man hours they're going to have to pay me. If this is not currently on the roadmap can it please be included?

Please can you tell me if this on the product roadmap to be implemented or if there is a workaround within File Explorer? We are a new customer and if this functionality is not available in a number of months at the latest then we will have to choose another solution.

Repeating Bob Wilkinson's comment.  This is a must-have feature.  My company will leave Box if this is not solved.

I am adding my voice to the call.  This is a huge issue that must be addressed or we'll unfortunately have to look for another service provider.

I agree.  As our company just did a recent migration to Box from SharePoint, this is a huge issue when searching for files.  The reason for the switch was primarily cost, so I guess you get what you pay for.

This is a massive degradation of cloud services. I can search my OneDrive and Dropbox files through File Explorer or Finder (MAC) with no issue. That Box has not enabled/programmed this functionality is short-sighted, at best.
If the online functionality worked like File Explorer/Finder, I could live with that. But even the search function on the website is quite clunky.
I had such high hopes when we were told we were moving to Box...*hopesdashed

How is it possible that anyone would think it is okay if we cannot search subfolders of box drive through File Explorer?   That's ridiculous.  That is the _whole point_ in good filenames and tags, is to be able to search easily.  Box drive is of no use to me now.

Adding my voice to this. Come on Box.com - this is ridiculous. PLEASE can you at the very least let us know why you seem unwilling to allow us to search for our files via the Windows file explorer?!

This limitation definetly brings lots of troubles when handling multiple files using file explorer. This must be addressed <o>
