I am trying to log into the Box Drive Desktop app.

In the app, I select log in, which redirects me to a webpage where I input my email. Once I input my email, I am prompted to sign in with Google. I select the email associated with my Box Drive account, and the webpage indicates that it is launching Box Drive.

The Box Drive desktop pops up, but the app still shows the same log in screen that appears when first starting the app. I receive no error codes or notifications.

This is a clean install of Windows 10. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the application multiple times.

Hi Joey,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to help!

You may proceed and manually reset your Box Drive application.

To reset Box Drive on Windows

  1. Exit Box Drive (if it is running). If necessary, use Task Manager to end the Box.exe process.

  2. Ascertain whether any files exist in C:\users\rUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\unsyncedFiles. These are files that have not been uploaded to Box. If these files do exist, and if you want to keep them, copy them to any location outside of C:\users\rUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\ (such as your desktop). Proceeding with the steps below deletes these files.

  • You may need to show hidden folders to see \AppData.

  • Delete this folder: C:\users\sUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box.

  • From RegEdit, delete the registry entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Box/Box to clear Box preferences.

  • Restart the Box Drive and follow the prompt to log back in.

Hope it works!

Hello, I have a similar issue. I select "Log in" in Box Drive, it takes me to a webpage in Edge, I enter my email, then it asks me to select a google account, I do so, and it takes me back to the login webpage in Edge. I do everything again and it takes me to the web app in Edge, and Box Drive remains with the "Log in" screen. I already followed the steps but it's still doing the same. How can I fix it?

I have the same problem. Followed the steps from Rona and still have the same problem.

I also have the same issue with box drive... open the app and log in which starts up my browser. I authenticate with my gmail credentials and the box drive app opens up to the splash screen, prompting me to login.  I've used this app for several years and it's been a good workhorse until recently

I take no consolation learning that I'm not alone. Resetting the box drive app as described above doesn't help me,either. I haven't uncovered any conversation that purports to have actually solved this problem...they all pretty much end at the suggestion to reset box drive. You'd think at least one of them would come back with a Yay!

My gmail access is on the free tier.  My company account still works correctly with box drive so I'm not dead in the water but it's disappointing to lose access to this feature at home.

I am having the same issue.

After spending hours troubleshooting this issue I found the solution.
For reference I was using Google Chrome as a default browser to handle the redirect but I don't think the browser is important here.
I disabled my 2FA but I'm also not sure if this is required also.

The main reason why the sign in didn't work for me is because I was using a gmail account. I assume that when I originally created the account I used the option "Sign up with Google" and automatically my account was linked to Google.

For some reason the redirect doesn't work if you have it linked to Google (or as Box calls it, Google+).

Solution:

1. Log in via browser to box.com

2. Click on your account picture in the top right corner and then on Account Settings

3. Click on the tab Integrations

4. In the section "Applications linked to your account" click on the Reset association button next to Google+

5. Now you need to log in again but since you removed the association with your gmail account, you will need to reset the password

6. Click on the button to reset your password and follow the instructions

7. After you reset the password, go to your installed Box Drive application and try to sign in again

8. Now when the browser opens, enter your email with the newly set password and the redirect should work

I hope this will help someone else in the future.
