Box Drive 2.48.250 Update Broke All My Offline Folders (Now Stuck on Cloud-Only)

Right after installing the 2.48.250 update of Box Drive for windows, all the folders I had set to “offline” were deactivated, and right now all my data is only in the cloud. I tried turning the option back on for some folders, but the data download never completes and just stays stuck. If I sign out of my account and log back in, the data appears as cloud-only again. Has anyone else run into the same issue? How can I fix it?

Same happened to me been stuck in a loop for days. Support has not gotten back to me the last 2 days with anything relevant. What I have discovered is Box Drive actually messes up when you attempt to download some folders locally or “offline” and then attempts to download EVERY folder as “offline” and that is when it gets stuck. It doesn’t appear to be one folder causing the issue because through this process I have had multiple trigger the “mass download event.” I have had some “luck” logging off (which will remove everything and make cloud only????!!!!) and then downloading one folder at a time locally as “offline.” Then I download these folders to my desktop or external drive just so I can actually work off them. This obviously defeats the entire purpose of Box, but I can’t get any actual support on this issue. I am just glad to see it isn’t just me. If you find anything that works let me know. Support seemed to not understand why someone would need to have files locally in the first place, and then I showed them that I cannot even preview a 4K raw video file unless it is local or it completely crashes explorer. Godspeed my friend!

I’m not sure if this is caused by the same issue, but I’m also experiencing problems when working with markdown files in VS Code. With version 2.47, I was able to open and edit files directly from the VS Code Explorer, but after updating to 2.48, I can no longer open them from there. Even when trying to open files from the Windows Explorer, they sometimes fail to launch. I also used to open VS Code from Box.com in the browser to edit files, but that no longer works either.

You perfectly described the same problem I'm having... endless loops and system slowness. I also tried clicking “disconnect” and everything resets, the “offline” files disappear completely, and only the cloud version remains. I'm having serious problems because some older software doesn't work well in the cloud. I hope support reads our messages and restores Box Drive to its previous state, otherwise it will be useless to me.

By any chance do you have “quick look” installed on your system? It is a free tool that allows you to preview files by hitting spacebar. They are having me look at that, but I highly doubt that is the issue.
