I'm trying to evaluate using box instead of dropbox, but i can't get the app to install so i can have the desktop experience. I downloaded it for mac, said it was successful, then brought me to a screen where i am redirected to the website to enter username. Then it just stops and says 'launcing box' and never does anything else. i've tried installing / uninstalling many times. I did see that the Box Live Com server wasn't running in the applications. I see a grayed out 'box' logo at the top of my taskbar. but nothing in locations in finder, and can't access it through the taskbar either.

Can you manually reset your Box Application? 


  1. Quit Box Drive if it is running.

  2. Download and open the Box Reset Tool zip file.

  3. Open the Box Reset Tool from the Downloads folder.

  4. Select Restart and then OK to confirm the restart was successful. 

  5. Open Box from your application folder and log back in. 

If there are any issues with the above process, follow these alternative steps to reset Box Drive.
