My Box drive wasn't syncing properly on my macbook pro so I deleted the app and all Box related files from my Macbook pro. Consequently, I downloaded the new version of Box (v 2.18.117) and after attempting to open the app the following message prompted: "You installed an older version of Box Drive on top of a newer version. Please install the latest version of Box Drive. If the problem persists, please contact Box Support to further troubleshoot the issue."

I also just downloaded the latest version of Box Drive from https://www.box.com/en-gb/resources/downloads and installed it on my Mac Book Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.1. As soon as I re-launched Box Drive it gave me the "You installed an older version of Box Drive on top of a newer version." error message.
I also went through an un-install - install cycle (using the version provided by my employers (IBM) app store with no success. 


I do rely on Box Drive for my daily work, so any quick help would be appreciated!

We deploy Box updates to 20+ Macs and have only 1 user (so far) who has this issue. MacOS 10.15.7 here. 


Quick update: Earlier today I got prompted for an update to Box Drive Version 2.19.294. I installed the update and luckily this fixed my problem reported above. The error dialog and crash are gone and it looks like I’m back in the game using Box Drive :)


I´m currently having the same problem!
