A customer is looking to build a large document repository, and wants to setup the structure in box. Repository has over 11,000 documents.

The goal is to organize folders in a stay put structural organization format.

This need for organization is not only needed in a large repository but also for creating Box folders to share with our outside counsel.

Any thoughts from the community?

I have done this exact exercise (Box consolidation and ontology development) with my last 5 companies (including current) and in the current case moving a bit over 1.1 million files from 7 sources (Sharepoint, OneDrive, etc) into Box into a 12 root structure.  Shoot me an email at nmcbride@xiliotx.com and we can chat or send me your email and I will add you to Slack connect.

We recently moved a large Public Works department from on-premise storage to Box.  The planning and design up front are absolutely key to success.  Pay close attention to the folder structure planning and how it is affected by the permissions that Box uses.  Also, planning the group structure, retention policies, user provisioning and deprovisioning and SSO must be contemplated before doing any data migration.  Once the wheels are moving and things are in place it is much harder to go back and change things.  I would recommend engaging with Box Professional Services for this effort.  Even with Box Professional Services much forethought is necessary to ensure the best result.
