Are there any settings required to POST to a specified endpoint when a specified event is triggered?

I want to POST to a specified endpoint when a specified event is triggered.
What are the steps I need to take to do this?
Is it enough to add a new app to box developer and set up a webhook?
I've done this and it's not working.
Is there anything else I need to do, such as perform authentication?
