Question

am now unable to receive authentication notifications on the app when attempting to log in

I used a Box account as an 'external' account. Previously, this account was linked to OKUTA, but I accidentally deleted the account from the OKUTA app.
Consequently, I am now unable to receive authentication notifications on the app when attempting to log in.

👋 Hi @NgocPTD, welcome to the Box Community!

To resolve the issue of not receiving authentication notifications after accidentally deleting your Box account from your authenticator app (such as Okta Verify), you can use one of the following methods to regain access to your account:

  1. Use Your MFA Backup Codes
If you previously copied and saved your backup codes during the initial multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup process, you can use one of these single-use codes to log in:
    1. Go to the Box login page and enter your email address and password.
    2. When prompted for the MFA verification code, enter one of your saved 12-character backup codes instead of the app-generated code.
    3. Once logged in, navigate to Account Settings > Account tab, scroll down to the Authentication or 2-Step Verification section, and click Remove next to the authenticator app method. You can then click Set Up to re-enroll and link your new authenticator app configuration.

  1. Contact your Primary Administrator (for managed users)
If your Box account is a managed account within a corporate enterprise and you do not have backup codes:
    1. Contact your organization’s primary Box administrator.
    2. Your administrator can use the Instant Login feature in the Admin Console to temporarily log into your account settings and disable 2-step verification for you.
    3. Once disabled, you will be able to log in using only your password and reconfigure your MFA settings.
  1. Contact Box Support (for external users / personal accounts)
Since you mentioned using this Box account as an “external” account:
    1. If you are an external collaborator who cannot log in and does not have backup codes, you must contact Box Support directly.
    2. Submit a support request to have two-factor authentication manually disabled for your account. If you are unable to sign in or not seeing the option to submit a ticket, click here.
    3. Once Box Support disables 2FA, you can log in with your password and set up your authenticator app again.

Thanks, and feel free to reach out if you have any other concerns.
