I am trying to upload content to our account but am receiving an error message stating “account storage limit reached.” I have the Business Plus plan and should have unlimited storage. What is going on?

I am getting “Account storage limit reached” even though I’ve deleted everything and emptied the trash. All the similar support topics result in a ticket being filed. Please help.

Welcome to Box Community and we’ll help resolve your upload error! 

To resolve this error:

1. Identify the folder owner and check their storage usage.
2. Have the owner clear space by deleting unnecessary files and emptying the trash.
3. Alternatively, an admin can increase the user’s storage allocation via the Admin Console under Users & Groups by editing the storage quota for that user.
4. For personal pro and free personal users, they can reach out to our Billing team (billing@box.com) to increase their storage. 

The “account storage limit reached” error occurs when the owner of the parent folder where a document is being uploaded has used up their allocated storage space.

Please note that uploaders are also subject to this error if the folder owner has reached his/her storage allocation.

The issue is resolved. After a day, my account’s storage used value updated to reflect the files I deleted.
