A colleague recently left our organization and we have lost access to files that she owned that were shared with us. Is there any way of retrieving them?

If the account of the folder owner gets deleted then the users who is collaborating on to a folder would no longer have access to this.
If the owner of the folder removed your access to the content but still has access to the account then in this case you’ll need to contact the folder owner.
