Trouble adding a collaborator to a folder

I created a folder and am trying to add someone as a collaborator (editor). When I send the invitation, I immediately get an email message saying that he has accepted the invitation, but he hasn’t. When he tries to log in using the link, it wants him to create a new account and pay for it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

👋 Hi @Lynn Duke, welcome to the Box Community!

A user must have a Box account to collaborate on content in Box. If you send a collaboration invitation to an individual without a Box account, that individual will be prompted to sign up with Box before being able to access the content.

If they only need to collaborate and don't require a paid account, they can sign up for a Free Individual account.

If they already have an existing Box account, make sure the email address used to send the collaboration invite matches the one they registered with and use to log in to Box.

Let us know how it goes. If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. 😊

I sent the link to fellow employees.  when they click the link, they are being prompted to set up an account and to purchase a plan.  According to Wealthbox, we should not have to do this.  the main purpose is that they need to be able to access the documents that I uploaded from Redtail through our Wealthbox Migration.  Please let me know how I can work around this.

👋 Hi @MicheleAPimentel, welcome to the Box Community! I’ve moved your post to this relevant topic about collaboration.

It’s possible that you sent an invitation link to collaborate to the files you shared. A user must have a Box account to collaborate on content in Box. If you send a collaboration invitation to an individual without a Box account, that individual will be prompted to sign up with Box before being able to access the content.

If they only need to access the documents, you may consider the People with the link option (i.e., anyone with the link can access the item and no Box account is required.) Please see Creating Shared Links article to learn more.

If you have other concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
