The difference in page numbers between viewing a PowerPoint file on Box and opening it in PowerPoint is usually due to how each platform renders and formats the slides. Some elements, such as hidden slides, may not be visible or counted, which can cause discrepancies in the slide count or how the slides are presented.

Some common issues include:

• Hidden Slides:
  • PowerPoint allows you to hide slides, meaning they won't be displayed during the presentation but are still part of the file.
  • You may check out Microsoft Support: Hide or show a slide to learn more.
• Slide Numbering Issues:
  • Numbering starting incorrectly (e.g., the introduction slide is not numbered.)
  • Please visit Microsoft Support: Add slide numbers, page numbers, or the date and time for guides on how to add slide numbers or to change the starting slide number.

Please also check the same view mode on both Box web app and PowerPoint (i.e., PowerPoint’s “Normal” view vs. Box’s preview mode).
