I am trying to creat a new task from the iOS app and there is no option to do so in the comment/activity screen like I’m used to seeing in the web version. Furthermore, I can use the web version to create the task on my mobile device but when I try and log in to the web version it automatically opens the box app instead of loading the web interface.
Hi
Creating a task is currently not an available feature in our Box app for mobile devices. At the moment, with Box for iOS, you can perform the following actions:
- Adding Files and Folders
- Copy, Move, or Delete Files and Folders
- Recents
- Saving Files for Offline Access
- Box Notes
- Classification labels
We apologize for this limitation. While we strive for excellence in all aspects of our offerings, it’s important for us to acknowledge any challenges faced by our customers. Therefore, we encourage you to engage with Box Pulse and submit this as a feature request. This will open a line of communication between you and the Product team who designs our roadmap.
Regarding your concern, an app can verify links to automatically open in the app (e.g., .box.com and .box.net links are verified and open the app). As for the Box web app automatically opening the Box app, this is expected behavior on iOS. For now, you can login to Box in Safari's Private Mode or Chrome's Incognito mode.
*For Android devices, there’s a setting called ‘Open by default’ that users can turn off to prevent the app from opening links automatically.
Thank you for your understanding. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further concerns.
