Since yesterday, I've encountered an issue.

When my clients try to access their files, they can see the files listed in a view. However, when they click on a file to view it in detail, they are redirected to a login page.

The expected behavior is that they should be able to preview the document and download it to their local machine without needing to log in, as they are already authenticated with the unique password I generated for them.

I haven't changed anything in my workflow regarding password authentication for each client's folders, so I suspect this issue may be on Box's end. Please address this matter urgently.

Thank you.

My users are experiencing the same thing as of today.  When you go to preview a file via a Shared Link, they receive a Box login prompt.

Me too. With a shared link, colleagues connected to an open access folder as usual, file list looks normal as usual. But to open specific file, they are redirected to login page.

Hello there, @istart @jason.rowland @c.yy 👋 Welcome to Box Community! Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.

The https://status.box.com/ says that all of our Box systems are operational. I have already raised this concern internally to further investigate and we’ll get back to you once I hear back from our support and engineering team.

Meanwhile, kindly try using a different browser or clear cache. Please let us know if the problem continues.

Thank you, the problem persists in different browsers and after clearing cache.  I have opened a case for this.  The case number is 3209725.

I am also experiencing this issue as of this morning. Whenever someone clicks on any of our Share links and attempts to preview a file, it prompts them for a login. Does anyone know if this is a new config setting for share links? I was not able to find anything in the admin console.

Hi @jason.rowland I appreciate taking initial steps to troubleshoot and sorry to learn the problem persists. For now, kindly keep an eye out for our Product Support’s response on your ticket #.

Also, I’ll circle back soon as I get a feedback internally what has caused the issue with resolution.

Have a great day ahead! 🤗

Hello @mike.curry Sorry to learn that you also experience the same issue. It looks like the issue is related to shared links. I’m waiting for our internal team’s feedback regarding this.

We appreciate your continued patience. 💙

Hi everyone! 👋 Apologies for any inconvenience it may have caused and we thank you for your patience in this matter.

It’s a known issue where public shared links redirect to a login window when attempting to access the contents. Public shared links should not force a login flow.

While we’re in the process of resolving this, the workaround (if available, and for users with Box accounts), is to have the users login to Box to access the contents in shared links.

Furthermore, for those users who haven’t submitted a ticket yet, please open a support ticket so we can track it and link to the known issue. Our support team will also notify you once it’s resolved or should there be any actions needed.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for other concerns. 💙

Thank you, the problem persists in different browsers and after clearing cache.  I have opened a case for this.  The case number is 3209725.

Just want to confirm that this has been resolved, and my users are reporting that they are able to preview files via public Shared Links now without a login prompt.  Thank you for the prompt resolution.

Confirming this has been resolved for my users as well.

Yay that is awesome! Thank you so much for letting us know that it’s resolved on your end, @jason.rowland and @adama 👏
