I want to share just one folder in a nest of many folders with an individual. Does that individual have access to any other files other than the one folder I intend to share.  I have tried to test this, but I always get access to the rest of the files which I do not want to share.

👋 Hi @ChapmanAlbin! Welcome to the Box Community.

Permission levels on Box follow a “waterfall” design in which individuals have access only to the folder they are invited into and any subfolders beneath it. A user can also be invited to individual files.

For more information, please check out this video from our Box University:

and this support article:

When sharing the folder, ensure you only share the intended folder and not the parent folder or any other folders. You can manage this by using the specific “Invite” option to add the individual only to that folder, not higher-level folders. If needed, you may consider moving the folder you want to share into a separate root directory. This way, you can share just that one folder without giving access to any of the parent folders.
