Question

About storage capacity

I am on a business plan and should have unlimited storage, but when I try to upload, it says that the limit has been reached and I cannot upload.

The admin page also shows unlimited capacity for user accounts (no limit set).

Do you know the cause?

Additional information.
When I check the account details in the account settings, the storage limit is set even though I am on a business plan.
Why is this?

Hi @Yutaro 👋 Welcome to the Box Community!

Business plans and above indeed provide unlimited storage. However, please be reminded that we have implemented measures to ensure the integrity of the Box Service for our users. This in accordance with our Fair Use Policy and Box Terms and each individual or user is limited to a total usage of 1 TB of Bandwidth/per month. This policy outlines Box's expectations for the fair use of our services and applies to all users of the Box Service.

I noticed that you have an open ticket with our Support Team. To assist further regarding upload issue and rate limit, we recommend continuing to work directly with them. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to address this.

Have a great day ahead! 🤗

So how does data migration work? Let’s say I have 2TB of existing data on a Synology NAS, and now I want to migrate those 2TB to Box. My first intention was to use Cloud Sync, but I have an upload limit of 1TB per month, even for the admin user. How can I migrate the data without having to wait two months or use multiple users?

Hi @swoadm 👋 Welcome to the Box Community! We are currently looking into your concern internally and will get back to you once I receive an update from our Support team regarding data migration.

In the meantime, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. 🤗

Hello @swoadm 👋 Upon checking, Cloud Sync appears to be a Synology-proprietary application. You can map your Synology to a windows-based server and then we can communicate via the Shuttle agent, so you would need to do some work on your end first. See Box Shuttle Windows Agent to learn more.

Also, this article Box Shuttle > Windows is a good place to start learning about Windows app. Please also check Migrate Content support article to check our migration methods.

Furthermore, your concern goes beyond the scope of break-fix support, which our Product Support team is unable to assist with. Since this is more of a strategic question, we encourage you to reach out to your Account Executive (AE) or Customer Success Manager (CSM). If you don’t have an assigned AE/CSM or are unsure who to contact, please get in touch with our Sales Team instead.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful day! 😊

Hi,

I have read the article  Migrate Content. That’s what I needed, thank you.

But I have one more question: In the article, it says the data is moved. In my understanding, moving means taking the data, moving it to the new place, and deleting it from the old place. Is that correct, or does it copy the data?

I really don’t want to move the data and then get a call asking why all the files are gone…

Thank you very much

Hi @swoadm 😊 You’re welcome! Shuttle never modifies source data - it is more of a copy. Original data remains as it is in the source.

Please refer to Box Shuttle Datasheet. It’s stated as one of its key features:

Transfer

Run your migration without any disruption to your workday. Migrated content is copied from the source, and doesn’t overwrite existing data
