Question

Answer

Can you confirm which Outlook for Mac platforms are supported? IE both New Outlook and Classic Outlook?

Outlook on Mac is supported, and you must have Outlook 2013 or later to utilize the new Box for Outlook integration. You can learn how to install (as the Admin) here, along with FAQs here.

Is the version history of the documents in Microsoft also based from the Box plans that users are subscribed to?

You can learn more about version history options according to your Box plan here. Version history limits will remain consistent regardless of which file type is being edited.

Can you clarify when Box Edit should be used/installed/required

We recommend installing Box Edit when you'd like to edit documents via your desktop rather than the webapp. More information here and here. However, Co-authoring does NOT require Box Tools nor Edit. Box Edit works like a proxy between the browser and an app. Co-authoring involves direct communication between Box and Microsoft servers, so the app can be opened directly from a browser. Users need to authorize when adding Box as a place. After doing so, no further steps are needed. To open a document from a browser window, users, of course, need to be authorized in the browser.

There are formulas in Excel that aren’t available or different between Windows and MacOS, how will this be translated when utilizing Co-authoring?

Box for Microsoft Office empowers your users to collaborate securely and seamlessly on Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files on Box with the ability to co-author documents in real time, with all changes auto-saved back to Box. Users can now co-author on linked worksheets in Microsoft Excel. When values in the source file changes, these values are automatically updated in the destination file. Learn more here.

How are password protected files treated using this (co-authoring)?

Is the file password protected on Box, or in Microsoft? If the file is password protected in Microsoft, you may run into issues while trying to co-author files. Learn more here.

Are there any BOX Sign integrations with Microsoft Teams?

Box Sign is currently not a feature available with the Box for Microsoft Teams integration. We recommend adding this to our product feedback tool, Box Pulse.

Is Graph still limited to only a certain amount of content in Box or do you expect for a user to be able to access all Box content they have access to?

Based on Microsoft’s existing ingestion rates, the Box Graph Connector will only surface your organization’s most recent content and favorites files (not folders) as opposed to all content within your Box EID. The current limit is 20,000 files per tenant. You will not be able to choose the folders or owners of the content you want to sync. If the limit is exceeded, content that appears most frequently is prioritized. Learn more here.

How can we remove teams “files” and migrate to “Box Files” only? Having two “files” is overly complex.

When you hide the OneDrive and SharePoint entry points, the following are unavailable in Microsoft Teams:

  • the paperclip icon in message extensions

  • the Files tab

  • dragging-and-dropping a file directly to OneDrive or SharePoint.

Hiding the the OneDrive and SharePoint entry points does not disable OneDrive or SharePoint, but enables people to solely use Box. Learn how to do this here.
