How to unlink my box instance from the previous organization instance it is part of.
I don't see any way to remove myself from my current org. I want to add this to a separate org instance.

👋 Hi @dolphin.prober.account, welcome to the Box Community!

It looks like the email you used to sign up for the community is tied to a personal Box account rather than an enterprise-managed one. To join your organization’s enterprise, an admin from that instance will need to send you an invite so you can be added as a managed user.

If you’re referring to another Box account that’s still associated with your previous org, you won’t be able to remove yourself from that enterprise. Only the enterprise admin can manage or disassociate user accounts.

Please note that an email address can only be linked to one Box account.

To resolve the issue:

  • Contact the admin of the previous enterprise and request that they:

    • Delete your user account to release your email address

      • Make sure to download and back up any content you want to keep before deletion OR

    • Change your email address on the old account to one that isn’t associated with any Box account

      • This lets you keep the existing account while freeing up the email you need

  • Once your email is released, the admin of your new organization can create a new managed user account for you.

If you need additional help joining the enterprise, please submit a ticket to Product Support. Be sure to sign in using the email address you need assistance with so we can verify ownership.

Thanks, and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
