When I click on ‘details’ of a file at the bottom under Metadata is says There was an error loading metadata.
What does that mean

The Metadata feature is available only on Business Plus, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus, and Enterprise Advanced plans. That’s why you’re unable to use Metadata on your files. However, you should still be able to view Metadata if the file is owned by an account on one of those plans.
