Share files - recipient being asked to sign up

When I shared a file recently, Box asked the recipient to sign up for an account to view and edit that file. Is there anyway I can get around this?

👋 Hi @Kosmos10, welcome to the Box Community!

It looks like you’re inviting a user as a collaborator. A collaborator is an individual who has been invited to a file or folder. In order to access a file/folder as a collaborator, a person will need a Box account in order to make changes to the content such as edit, view, and upload/download.

If you send a collaboration invitation to an individual without a Box account, that individual will be prompted to sign up with Box before being able to access the content. Our lowest available plan is a Free Individual with 10 GB of storage and 250 MB file upload limit.

If you do not need to collaborate with people, you can utilize shared link instead. Unlike collaboration, individuals accessing your content through a shared link get "read-only" access and won’t be able to make changes to your files.
