I purchased a new I-Phone 17 and I lost all authenticator links in my OKTA app during re-configuration.

I need a new QR code to re-establish such link in OKTA authenticator.

👋 Hi @DOLVINDJ, welcome to the Box Community! I’d be glad to assist.

To set up Okta Verify (or any supported TOTP authenticator app) on your new iPhone and get a new QR code for your Box account, follow these steps based on whether you still have account access:

If you are currently able to log in to Box (e.g., via a trusted browser or backup codes):

  1. Log in to your Box account via a web browser.
  2. Click your account icon in the top-right corner and select Account Settings.
  3. Under the Account tab, scroll to the 2-Step Verification (or Authentication) section.
  4. If your previous authenticator method is listed, click Remove next to it, then click Set Up (or click Set Up if configuring anew).
  5. Select Authentication App and click Next.
  6. A new QR code (and manual secret key) will be displayed on your screen. Open your Okta Verify / Authenticator app on your new iPhone, choose to add a new account, and scan the QR code.
  7. Enter the confirmation code generated by your authenticator app and click Submit.
  8. Enter a verification phone number (used for identity verification if needed), save your newly generated backup codes in a safe place, and click Complete.

(Note: If your company uses Single Sign-On (SSO) where authentication is managed directly by Okta, 2-Step Verification will be managed through your company’s Okta portal rather than Box settings.)

If you are locked out of your Box account:

  • Managed Enterprise Users: Contact your company’s Box Primary Admin or IT Help Desk. Your administrator can use the Admin Console (or Instant Login) to temporarily disable or reset 2-Step Verification on your account so you can sign in with your password and re-enroll your new iPhone.
  • Personal / Starter / External Users: If you do not have backup codes and are locked out, please submit a ticket to Box Product Support for account verification and assistance resetting your 2FA.
