I usually see this message when the email address where you received the shared content is different from the one associated with your Box account. You must have a Box account linked to the email address that was invited to access the file or folder.
If the invite was sent to the same email address associated with your Box account, but you're still seeing an error, would you mind trying the following steps as part of our troubleshooting process to see if they help?

I am new to Box and have a basic individual account. I joined to be able to collaborate with people outside of my organisation. They shared a link to a shared folder, on their enterprise Box account I believe. However, when clicking the link, I get this:
How do I troubleshoot? Is it an account settings issue? Is it the security on their end?

Please make sure that the email address where you received the invite is the same as the one you're using to log in to Box. It would also be helpful if the folder owner could double-check your permission level to view and access the shared content.
