To Whom It May Concern,

Thank you for your continued support.

I would like to delete the [removed by moderator] account (administrator), but I’m unable to transfer the admin rights or cancel the process.

I simply want to delete my personal [removed by moderator] account so that I can use our company’s organizational account.

"You do not have permission to confirm this administrator transfer. Unable to confirm administrator transfer. Please log out, log in as an administrator, and try again."

Thank you very much for your assistance.

👋 Hi @GAO, welcome to the Box Community! I can provide support in English only, so I’ve included the translated text you shared for reference. I’m happy to help.

Your publicly posted email was automatically removed. For security, please avoid sharing personal information such as email addresses or phone numbers.

Is this the same email you used to register your community profile? If so, it appears to be a developer account. If this is the email you want to use for your organization’s Box account, you have two options:

1. If you don’t want to keep the developer account

  • You can request to switch it to a Free Individual account. This will release your email from the enterprise ID it’s currently linked to, allowing your admin to invite you to your company’s Box account.
  • Please email our Billing team at billing@box.com using the registered admin email for this account to authorize the request.
Note: Once a developer account is changed to another tier, it cannot be reverted.

2. If you need to keep the developer account but want to free the email

  • You can add a different email address that isn’t associated with any Box account. Set that new email as the primary, then remove the current one. After that, your admin can create a managed user account for you using your company email.
  • For steps, see Login and Email Addresses.

If you need more help, feel free to submit a ticket to our Product Support team.

Have a great day ahead!

I’m trying to process an admin transfer. I'm the only person in the group and the admin, and I even got the transfer email, but the link says I don't have permission. I’m not sure why this is happening since I should have full access. Can you help?

Hi @GAO,

You can transfer the admin role to another manager user on the account. The permission issue you’re seeing is likely related to an unverified domain.

Please note that the current administrator's email domain, and the email domain of the managed user who will be assigned the Admin role, both need to be verified domains. For more details and step‑by‑step instructions, you can review this article: Transferring Admin Privileges to Another User.

Also as mentioned before, if your goal is simply to use the same email associated with your developer account and have it added to your organization’s Box account, please refer to the initial guide I shared.

If you encounter any issues with either process, feel free to submit a ticket to Product Support for further assistance.

I want to delete my user account, but I’m unable to do so.
When I click the Cancel Account link, an error alert appears and the cancellation cannot be completed.
Could you please help me delete my account?

Hi @GAO, thanks for your response, and I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing an issue.

Before we proceed, I want to highlight an important policy note: if you cancel your Box account, the email associated with it will remain linked. The system automatically deletes deactivated accounts after 120 days, and until that process completes, the same email cannot be reused to register a new Box account. We’re unable to manually override or expedite this process.

If your only goal is to cancel the account without making any additional changes, please contact our Cancellations team at cancel@box.com using your admin email, especially if you're having trouble canceling online.

However, as advised if you need to use the same email currently tied to your Box account for your organization, here are your available options:

  1. Downgrade to a Free Individual Account
  1. Change the Primary Login Email
  • This will release the current email so it can be used elsewhere.
  • For further assistance, please submit a ticket to Product Support.

  1. Transfer Admin Privileges
  • Can be processed if a managed user will be taking over the account. The new admin can delete your user account so the email can be used elsewhere.
  • Please submit a ticket to Product Support for help with the admin change.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Let us know if you need anything else.
