Viewer Uploader, Managed User, not able to Upload

I have a Managed User who has Viewer Uploader permissions for a root folder. However, when the user accesses any subfolder within that root folder, the New + button is grayed out, preventing the user from uploading files.

This was not previously an issue for this user. I reviewed the user’s account settings, collaboration permissions, and folder-level permissions, but I can’t find any changes or restrictions that would explain why the upload option is now unavailable to anyone with ‘Viewer Uploader’ permissions.

The user needs to upload files to the subfolders. Has anyone experienced this behavior or found another setting that may override Viewer Uploader permissions?

Hi @alexjohn227,

Viewer Uploader access should allow a user to upload files. If the New + button is disabled only in the subfolders, check the user’s effective permission on one affected subfolder: Box permissions flow down from the folder where access was granted, and a different collaboration on a subfolder can change the user’s access there. Also confirm they’re opening the folder through Box collaboration, rather than a shared link.

If the user still shows as Viewer Uploader on the affected subfolder, try another browser or a private window to rule out a browser issue. If the problem persists, contact Box Support and include the affected folder path, the user’s effective permission, and a screenshot.
