Is it possible to leave a folder where it is and change its permissions to read-only?
The scenario here is that this is a subfolder of our company wide drive, and we are reorganizing our folder structure and layout. We want to leave this original folder available to all, but force adoption of the new location by making the old one into read-only. However, since this folder lives in a company wide location, everyone has editor access. I can’t flip this subfolder to read-only without disrupting the whole tree.
Is there a way to make this subfolder into read-only without having to removing it from the folder tree and move it somewhere new. I really don’t want to pull the rug out from the users and have them deal with two new locations versus one new location to deal with.
